It is available in the Brazilian market a diagnostic kit for the detection
of L. pneumophila called SPEED-OLIGO®LEGIONELLA PNEUMOPHILA
characterized by method based on the PCR incorporated in a dipstick that
enables a rapid detection and highly sensitive and specific detection of L.
pneumophilain clinical samples.
The PCR mixtures included in the referred diagnostic kit have a pair of
specific oligonucleotides for the amplification of one fragment of the MIP
gene. Its detection parameter includes all the serogroups of L. pneumophila,
but does not include other species than the
Legionella pneumophila
.
The results for the tests that use the detection technique in dipstick take
5-10 minutes.
