low energy buildings - buildings that are currently considered by many
people as synonymous with sustainable - impose new requirements and
performance evaluations, this should allowrapidly evolving of requirements
for the buildings during their life cycle: low water consumption, low waste
generation, comfortable and healthy.
Thus, the experience for the first years of the AQUA-HQE process
perfectly prefigures a new form of assessment of buildings. Analysis
methodologies based on results and performance levels with a global vision,
not only the concern about low energy consumption, but also aspects
about comfort and health, environmental performance and architectural
diversity, considering the life cycle of building. Therefore, the real challenge
is to contribute to an approach that considers the important aspects of
sustainable development.
Comfort and Health
The priority on comfort and health focuses on relative questions about
quality of life of residents and occupants, placing the individual at the center
of these questions.
Since the beginning of AQUA-HQE process this approach (focus on
individuals) is explicit in seven of fourteen targets (
