It is with great satisfaction that Green Building Council Brasil (GBC
Brasil) witnesses the spread discussion of
Legionella
theme in our country.
Since the beginning of the Organization’s operations in Brazil, June 2007,
discussion about
Legionella

dangerous bacteria is frequent at GBC technical forums.
Green Building Council Brazil is a nonprofit organization, inserted into
a global movement that aims to influence the transformation of national
construction industries towards sustainability. Currently there are 100
GBCs in different countries. In Brazil the creation took place in 2007, and
currently has about 800 companies as Members that support the activities
of the organization focused on professional training, dissemination of
information and knowledge, government relations and promotion of
international certification of green buildings, LEED (Leadership in Energy

Notwithstanding the macro themes of energy efficiency, water
efficiency and low environmental impact materials, it is important to
mention that indoor air quality is a subject that has been highlighted in
the international movement of sustainable construction. These practices
aim to improve quality of life, health and well-being, and consequently,
increase productivity, improve recovery time in hospitals, improve student
