Legionella
’s habitats are water of rivers, lakes, reservoirs and artificial
water systems and it lives without causing any problem and even without
having the characteristic of being considered a kind of contamination.
However, in favor of their proliferation and specific contact with the human
environment, may be considered environmental contamination and cause
disease to humans.
A new discovery was the
Legionella
longbeachae
. Isolated in Long
Beach, California. It lives in soil or soil compost, particularly for the use of
gardening. It’s already been detected in countries like USA, Japan, Greece,
UK and Australia.
