It’s been said that since Brazil is a tropical country it does not have and
never has had
Legionella
bacteria. That is a great misconception that has
been providing the increase of cases and total neglect with this sad reality.
Legionella
is a bacteria that lives in our environment and Brazil still has
more conditions for it’s proliferation, which unfortunately is a topic not yet
addressed in a serious way.
Around the world many countries have legislation, technical standards
and recommendations to minimize the risk of proliferation of
Legionella
and
minimize the incidence of respiratory diseases (pneumonia and Pontiac fever).
There are already many global companies that have in their security
philosophy risk assessment (Risk Assessment) of
Legionella
as part of their
process.
In Brazil the news that brings us to this story is the case of Sergio Motta.
Legionella
is thebacteria that causedhisdeath(remembering that SergioMotta
was already suffering from respiratory problems and had low resistance).
