A larger percentage, 30%, is classed as having occurred in the local
authority sector. This would cover outbreaks linked to schools, old people’s
accommodation, council provided sports facilities and pavilions, and local
government/city council administrative buildings.
The public sector has been responsible for 16% of the 44 outbreaks and
this sector would include sites such as prisons, hospitals and healthcare
properties, universities, and public sector administrative buildings.
The data indicates that no one sector appears to carry significantly more
risk than any other.
A large proportion, 36%, of the 44 outbreaks cannot be attributed to
any particular type of system, again indicating that linking an outbreak to
a specific building type and system type can sometimes be a difficult, or
impossible process.
