Preamble
SETRI’s initiative to develop and publish a book about the
Legionella
bacteriumisverycommendable, bringing together inoneupdateddocument
the overview of various national and international experts. This work tends
to be a milestone in the discussion of the topic. The book addresses in each
chapter a partial perspective on the
Legionella
bacterium, such as legal,
environmental, analytical, clinical, among others, as well as the vision of
international experts, particularly in the concept of Risk Assessment of the
Legionella
bacteria.
As part of the Health Surveillance work, understood as
“a set of actions
thatcaneliminate,reduceorpreventriskstohealthandinterveneinhealth
problems arising from the environment, the production and circulation
of goods and the rendering of services of health (Law 8080/1990)”
, I
understand that this knowledge comes to assist all sectors interested in
improving the quality of life, such as artificially air-conditioned stores,
service providers, regulatory agencies, inspection agencies, educational
and research institutions, beyond all buildings (Hotels, Hospitals, Shopping
Centers, Commercial Buildings, Industries, etc ...)
I congratulate everyone involved in this work.
