with assigned responsibilities and must be held accountable to the facility
manager/owner for building water system safety.
Process Flow Diagrams
The first job for the team is to describe how water is processed and used
in the facility. These descriptions must be rendered into simple schematic
diagrams that show, step-by-step, how water is processed in the facility. For
each building water system, there must be a process flow diagram (PFD) for
the potable water system and a separate PFD for the utility water system.
Figures 1 and 2 are examples from real building water systems. Note that
the processing steps are named and numbered on the PFDs.
