One of the legionnaires who accompanied the burials of colleagues tries
to contact the Hospital of Philadelphia and those responsible for healthcare
to try and get more information about the events, but he received no
feedback.
Dissatisfied he seeks the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and notifies
them about the cases and his concern that it could have been a terrorist
attack against the legionaries. He demands answers, because the concern
was that all participants of the Convention could be contaminated.
On August 2, 1976, the CDC noted the problem and started the
investigation.
First hypothesis would be an outbreak of the same 1918 influenza that
could be repeating itself with the modified virus, or worse, it could be a
national epidemic.
The media notices and starts promoting the case that American heroes
had died of an unknown issue and that the government should investigate
faster.
