Organization have been proven effective for preventing waterborne
disease associatedwithbuildingwater systems (WHO2007).
• In 2010, aHACCPwatermanagement programwas developed and
implemented at theMayoClinic inRochesterMN yielding significant
improvements inbuildingwater system safety (Kraegschmidt 2014).
• Since 2000, the CDC has recommended HACCP-based water
management programs for facilities that have had outbreaks of
Legionnaires’ disease. There have been no subsequent outbreaks in
buildings following the recommendedprotocols.
Today in theUS, theseprinciples arebeingapplied to themanagement
of buildingwater systems inmanyhundredsof facilities.A summaryof the
