For everyCCP, theWaterManagementTeam is required to specify the
following:
1.Criticalcontrol limits
2.Monitoringmethod
3.Frequencyofmonitoring
4.Correctiveactions
Examplesofcriticalcontrollimitsarethetemperaturerangespecification
onawaterheaterand thechlorine residualmeasuredat achlorine injection
point.
Monitoringrefers to thephysical/chemicalmeasurementsof thehazard
control agent itself, such as for example, chlorine or chlorine dioxide.
The teammust specify what method they will use and how often it will
be measured. Note that monitoring does not refer to tests for
Legionella
bacteria inbuildingwater samples.
Corrective actions specify exactly what will be done if monitoring
results indicate that a critical control limit has been violated. For example,
a corrective action specification might require that if chlorine residuals
are not within specifications, then an individual is required to check the
chemical feedand report to theWaterManagementTeamwithin in1hour,
for instance. All corrective actions must be documented in a Corrective
Actions Log.
Correctiveactionsareundertaken inresponsetomonitoringthecritical
limits at CCPs. Note that corrective actions are not that which is done in
response to
Legionella
test results or low temperature readings at a distal
