investigates the development of the bacterium in the country and how to
act in terms of prevention, detection and care concerning the subject.
As a town councilor, I took the initiative to present to the Municipal
Chamber of São Paulo a proposed law (bill) that is in discussion in the
House, establishing mechanisms to ensure the quality of the air at indoor
environments in premises having a thousand square meters or more of built
area, in the city of São Paulo.
We know that in acclimatized environments the lack of maintenance
and cleaning performed with the correct frequency in ventilation and air
conditioning devices can contribute to the dissemination of respiratory
diseases that affect, mainly, persons with vulnerable health conditions or
those already having respiratory problems. This reduces or compromises
the quality of life of the citizens.
Our objective with this proposed law is to protect the health of the
population by requiring the care with air conditioning systems, for if not
properly sanitized, they can be a propagator means of several bacteria,
among which
Legionella
, this invisible evil.
The proposed law has the objective of supervising equipment for air
conditioning systems, of any size, capacityor destination, eithermanufactured
in Brazil or imported from any origin. The future law will require the
equipment to be in accordance with the standards of the BrazilianAssociation
of Technical Standards (Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas - ABNT)
which sets up specific regulations for air conditioning, either single units or
central systems, or any other technical standard that comes to replace it, in
order to be installed in the municipality of the city of São Paulo.
