Legionella
bacteria. There must be incentives to
reduce the price and to extend the range of the tests to detect the bacteria,
as well as incentives for universities to organize information exchange on
this disease and to issue reports to the population.
- Information on prevention mechanisms to prevent this bacterium
proliferation, by the manufacturers of spas, humidifiers, cooling towers,
and other likely sources of
Legionella
contamination in their products,
according to what is set by the Consumer Protection Code.
-Recommendationby the sanitary surveillance agencies for disinfection
of places where the percentage of
Legionella
surpasses 30%, as the American
CDC does.
- Incentive for the regular cleaning of cooling towers with a proper
treatment to prevent algal growth and emergence of mud.
- Creation of mechanisms to promote constant verification of potable
water tanks cleaning, as well as incentive for people to keep these tanks
covered and lidded. Those measures can be expressed by ANVISA
Resolutions.
Thecontrol forpreventingaLegionnaires’diseaseepidemiccompensates
any investment, once this disease can cause the death of human beings and
high social, environmental, and financial costs for the State.
